About Shape Collage

Shape Collage was started by Vincent Cheung in 2007 because he had thousands of photos and didn't know what to do with them. He thought about making a photo collage with his photos, but didn't like the existing collage making programs. They required too much work to make a collage, they didn't look nice, and they didn't give you enough control. He began tinkering around and invented a new algorithm for automatically arranging photos in a collage. Vincent then realized that his algorithm wasn't restricted to just boring rectangular collages like everyone else, and so, Shape Collage was born!

Shape Collage is the only collage maker that:

  • optimally arranges photos
  • creates collages in different shapes
  • can handle thousands of photos
  • generates super high-resolution images (up to 200 megapixels)
  • makes collages in just seconds
  • exports to Photoshop PSD file format

Vincent Cheung - Founder, CEO, and Janitor

I did my PhD in Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto, specializing in Machine Learning and Computer Vision, and I did my undergrad in Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba, graduating at the top of my class. I have previously worked at Google and Microsoft Research and have published a bunch of papers. In 2010, I was crowned the EO Graduate Student Entrepreneur Global Champion. When I'm not on a computer, I can usually be found playing volleyball, snowboarding, rollerblading, traveling, or playing with my cat.

I graduated from the University of Toronto with my PhD and MSc in Computer Science, specializing in the study of Human-Computer Interaction. I received my BSc in Computer Science from the University of British Columbia. I previously worked at IBM Research, Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs, Electronic Arts, and Radical Entertainment. In my free time I can often be found on a volleyball court.

Chris Lancaster - Developer and Busker

I graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto with a BSc in Computer Science. Prior to joining Loupe I worked on another start-up based out of the Digital Media Zone at Ryerson. Chris loves music, running and can often be found cycling aimlessly around the city.
